President's Message - August 2021

Posted on Tuesday, August 24, 2021

As the new president of the Northern California Chapter of ARCS Foundation (ARCS NCC), I would like to extend a warm welcome to the 2021-2022 cohort of ARCS Scholars! These 76 graduate students in STEM disciplines were selected for ARCS Awards by our partner universities (UC Berkeley, UC Davis, UCSF, UC Santa Cruz, San Francisco State University, and Stanford University), based on scientific merit and potential contributions to their field.

ARCS Foundation (Achievement Rewards for College Scientists), a national organization of women founded in 1958, has provided over $115 million to more than 10,500 students in STEM disciplines. The Northern California Chapter has funded 2,900 Scholar Awards totaling over $23.6 million since 1970. We are very proud to have awarded over $1 million to the 2021-2022 ARCS Scholars.

All of us in ARCS NCC are very impressed with the outstanding academic backgrounds and achievements of our Scholars and, most of all, their potential to make a positive impact in their field of study and, in turn, make the world a better place for us all.
